When we are trying to persuade someone to our way of thinking, it is vital to get them to say “yes” as soon as possible. By doing so, we establish a positive momentum that can lead to further agreement. People are more likely to continue saying “yes” once they have started, as it is human nature to want to remain consistent with our previous actions and statements. Getting someone to agree with us right away can be achieved by starting with statements that are so obviously true that the other person cannot disagree. This establishes a pattern of agreement from the very beginning, making it more likely that they will continue to agree with us as the conversation progresses.
