Newspeak alters language perception from "summary" of George Orwell 1984 by

The Party's use of Newspeak is a powerful tool in shaping the thoughts and perceptions of the citizens of Oceania. By altering the language itself, the Party is able to control the way people think about the world around them. The limitations of Newspeak restrict the range of thought that is possible, eliminating the ability to express ideas that are not in line with the Party's ideology. In Newspeak, words are systematically stripped of their original meanings and given new, narrower definitions. This serves to limit the range of thought that is possible, as language is the tool through which we conceptualize and communicate our thoughts. Without words to express certain ideas, those ideas become increasingly difficult to think about and articulate. The ultimate goal of Newspeak is to make it impossible to even conceive of rebellion against the Party. By limiting the language in which dissenting ideas can be expressed, the Party effectively eliminates the possibility of dissent itself. If people are unable to even think about resistance, they will be much less likely to act on those thoughts. The insidious nature of Newspeak lies in its subtlety. By slowly and systematically changing the language over time, the Party is able to shape the way people think without them even realizing it. As words are removed from the language and new meanings are assigned to others, the very structure of thought is altered. Through Newspeak, the Party is able to control not just what people say, but what they are able to think. By limiting the language in which ideas can be expressed, the Party ensures that only thoughts that align with its own ideology are possible. In this way, Newspeak serves as a powerful tool of oppression, keeping the citizens of Oceania in a perpetual state of mental subjugation.
