I am a food addict from "summary" of Food: A Love Story by Jim Gaffigan

I have come to accept that I am a food addict. It's not a label I ever thought I would wear, but the evidence is indisputable. My daily thoughts revolve around what I will eat next, how I can get my hands on it, and when I can eat it without anyone judging me. Food has a hold on me that I can't seem to shake. I find myself craving certain foods at all hours of the day, unable to resist the temptation to indulge in them. The mere thought of a juicy cheeseburger or a slice of gooey pizza can send me into a frenzy of desire. I know that I should be more disciplined, more in control of my impulses, but when faced with a plate of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies, all bets are off. The guilt that follows a binge eating session is overwhelming. I promise myself that I will do better next time, that I will make healthier choices and exercise more self-restraint. But as soon as the opportunity presents itself, I am once again face-to-face with my old nemesis - food. It's a vicious cycle that I can't seem to break. The temporary pleasure that comes from indulging in my favorite foods is quickly overshadowed by feelings of shame and regret. I know that I should be seeking help, finding healthier coping mechanisms, but the thought of giving up my beloved comfort foods is too much to bear. So I continue on this path of self-destruction, filling the void in my life with food instead of addressing the underlying issues that drive me to overeat. I am trapped in a cycle of addiction, unable to break free from the hold that food has over me. And as much as I long for liberation, a part of me fears the emptiness that will come from letting go of my most faithful companion - food.
