Flow involves losing selfconsciousness from "summary" of Finding Flow by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi

When we are fully immersed in an activity that challenges us just enough to keep us engaged but not overwhelmed, we often lose track of time and forget about our worries and concerns. This state of intense focus and absorption is what psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi refers to as "flow." In this state, we are so engrossed in what we are doing that our sense of self-consciousness disappears. We are no longer preoccupied with how we are perceived by others or with evaluating our own performance. Instead, our attention is completely absorbed by the task at hand, and we lose ourselves in the moment. This experience of losing self-consciousness is crucial to achieving flow because it allows us to fully immerse ourselves in the activity without being distracted by self-doubt or self-criticism. In this state, our actions seem to flow effortlessly, and we feel a sense of deep satisfaction and fulfillment. When we are in flow, we are not concerned with how we look or what others think of us. We are focused solely on the task and the feeling of being completely absorbed in it. This lack of self-consciousness frees us from the constraints of our ego and allows us to experience a sense of liberation and freedom. We are able to let go of our insecurities and fears and simply be present in the moment. In this state of flow, our sense of self fades into the background, and we become one with the activity. We are no longer separate from what we are doing; instead, we are fully engaged and connected to the task at hand. This merging of action and awareness is what gives flow its unique quality and makes it such a powerful and transformative experience. In flow, we are able to transcend our ordinary sense of self and tap into a deeper sense of connection and meaning.
