Technology has only exacerbated the problem from "summary" of CrazyBusy by Edward M. Hallowell

In our fast-paced, hyperconnected world, technology plays a central role in our lives. It promises to make things easier, more efficient, and more convenient. However, the reality is quite different. Instead of alleviating our stress and busyness, technology has only made things worse. With the constant barrage of emails, texts, notifications, and social media updates, we are always on high alert, never able to fully relax or unwind. Our attention is constantly divided, jumping from one task to another, never fully immersed in the present moment. This constant state of distraction not only hinders our productivity but also takes a toll on our mental and emotional well-being. Furthermore, the rise of smartphones and other devices has blurred the boundaries between work and personal life. We are expected to be available around the clock, responding to emails and messages at all hours of the day. This has led to a pervasive sense of being always "on," never truly able to disconnect and recharge. In addition, the never-ending stream of information available at our fingertips has led to information overload. We are bombarded with more data than our brains can handle, leading to decision fatigue and cognitive overload. This constant flow of information makes it difficult for us to focus, prioritize, and make meaningful connections. Moreover, social media has created a culture of comparison and perfectionism, where we feel pressured to curate the perfect online persona. This constant need for validation and approval only adds to our stress and anxiety, fueling a cycle of busyness and burnout.
  1. Technology has only exacerbated the problem of busyness in our lives. While it has its benefits, the constant connectivity and information overload have created a vicious cycle of stress, distraction, and overload. If we want to reclaim our time and our sanity, we must learn to strike a balance between technology and our well-being.
