Control desires to free yourself from suffering from "summary" of Bhagvat Gita ka Yog (Hindi) by Sri Sri Krishna Prem

To liberate ourselves from suffering, we must learn to control our desires. Desires are the root cause of all suffering. When we desire something, we become attached to it. And attachment leads to suffering because we become dependent on that thing or person for our happiness. By controlling our desires, we free ourselves from this cycle of attachment and suffering. When we can let go of our desires, we can find true inner peace and contentment. We are no longer at the mercy of external circumstances or people to make us happy. This is not to say that we should suppress our desires. Rather, it is about understanding our desires and not letting them control us. We must learn to discriminate between our true needs and our wants. By focusing on fulfilling our needs and letting go of our wants, we can break free from the chains of desire. When we can control our desires, we can live a life of balance and harmony. We are no longer swayed by the ups and downs of life because our happiness does not depend on external factors. We find joy in the present moment and are grateful for what we have.
  1. By mastering our desires, we can achieve true freedom from suffering. We can experience a deep sense of peace and fulfillment that no external pleasure can match. It is a journey of self-discovery and self-mastery that leads to liberation from the bondage of desire.
