Anxiety discloses the truth of existence. It is not just a passing feeling that can be easily dismissed or ignored. Rather, anxiety reveals something fundamental about our being-in-the-world. When we experience anxiety, we are confronted with the nothingness that lies at the heart of our existence. This nothingness is not a lack or absence, but rather an opening up of possibilities. Anxiety reveals to us the fact that we are always already in a state of unease. It is not something that we can simply get rid of or overcome. Instead, anxiety points to the fact that we are always in a state of anticipation, waiting for something to happen.
