Value mental health from "summary" of 21 Lessons for the 21st Century by Yuval Noah Harari

Our society places a high value on physical health, with gyms and fitness centers on every street corner, and a plethora of diets promising to make us leaner and healthier. But what about mental health? It is often overlooked or even stigmatized, seen as a sign of weakness or something to be ashamed of. However, mental health is just as important, if not more so, than physical health. In today's fast-paced and high-stress world, our minds are constantly bombarded with information and stimuli, leading to increased levels of anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues. Ignoring these issues can have serious consequences, not just for the individual, but for society as a whole. Mental health problems can lead to a decrease in productivity, an increase in absenteeism, and a rise in healthcare costs. We need to start valuing mental health as much as we value physical health. This means taking the time to care for our minds as we do our bodies. Just as we exercise and eat well to keep our bodies healthy, we should also practice mindfulness, meditation, or therapy to keep our minds healthy. We need to break down the stigma surrounding mental health and encourage open and honest conversations about our struggles and challenges. By valuing mental health, we can create a society that is more compassionate, understanding, and resilient. We can support each other in times of need, and work together to build a world that is mentally healthy for all. So let us make mental health a priority, and strive to create a world where our minds are as well cared for as our bodies.
