Forgiveness is a path to freedom from negativity from "summary" of Zen and the Art of Happiness by Chris Prentiss

Forgiveness is a path to freedom from negativity. When we hold on to anger, resentment, or a grudge, we are allowing negativity to consume us. We are giving power to the person or situation that hurt us, relinquishing our own power in the process. Our thoughts become clouded with bitterness, our hearts heavy with the weight of past grievances. This negativity doesn't just affect our mental and emotional well-being; it can manifest physically in our bodies as well. By choosing to forgive, we are not condoning the actions of others or denying our own pain. We are simply releasing ourselves from the burden of carrying around that pain. We are freeing ourselves from the chains of negativity that bind us. Forgiveness is an act of self-love and self-empowerment. It is a declaration that we will not allow past hurts to dictate our present or our future. When we forgive, we are choosing peace over turmoil, love over hate, light over darkness. We are reclaiming our power and taking control of our own happiness. We are opening ourselves up to the possibility of healing and transformation. Forgiveness is a gift we give to ourselves, a gift that keeps on giving. It is a gift of freedom from negativity, a gift of inner peace and harmony.
  1. We are not only setting ourselves free, but we are also creating space for positivity to enter our lives. We are making room for joy, love, and abundance to flow in. We are allowing ourselves to experience the fullness of life without being weighed down by the past. Forgiveness is a journey towards liberation, towards wholeness, towards happiness. It is a path that leads us back to ourselves, back to our true essence - which is pure, radiant, and free.
