It's important to prioritize selfcare and prioritize mental health from "summary" of Wow, No Thank You. by Samantha Irby

Taking care of yourself should always come first. It's easy to get caught up in the chaos of everyday life and forget to prioritize your own well-being. But the truth is, you can't pour from an empty cup. If you're not taking care of yourself, how can you expect to show up fully for the people and responsibilities in your life? This includes mental health as well. Our minds can often be our own worst enemies, constantly bombarding us with negative self-talk and doubt. It's crucial to take the time to check in with yourself and address any mental health issues that may be lingering beneath the surface. Ignoring your mental health can have serious consequences, not just for yourself but for those around you as well. Self-care isn't just about bubble baths and face masks (although those are definitely nice too). It's about setting boundaries, saying no when you need to, and making time for the things that bring you joy. It's about recognizing when you need help and being brave enough to ask for it. And it's about giving yourself permission to take a break when you need it, without feeling guilty or selfish. Prioritizing your mental health means being proactive about managing your stress and seeking help when you need it. It means being honest with yourself and others about how you're feeling, even when it's uncomfortable. And it means being gentle with yourself, understanding that you're not perfect and that's okay.
  1. Taking care of yourself is not a luxury - it's a necessity. Your well-being should always be your top priority, because when you're at your best, you can better show up for the people and things that matter most to you. So go ahead, give yourself permission to put yourself first. You deserve it.
