Selfworth should not be dependent on others' approval from "summary" of Women Who Love Too Much by Robin Norwood
When we base our self-worth on the approval of others, we are setting ourselves up for disappointment and heartache. This is because we are putting our value in the hands of someone else, giving them the power to determine how we feel about ourselves. We are essentially saying that we are not enough on our own, that we need someone else to validate our worth. This is a dangerous way to live, as it leaves us vulnerable to the whims of those around us. If someone praises us, we feel good about ourselves. If someone criticizes us, we feel bad about ourselves. Our self-esteem becomes a rollercoaster ride, constantly at the mercy of others' opinions. We must break free from this cycle of seeking validation from outside sources. We must learn to validate ourselves, to recognize our own worth independent of what others think of us. This is not an easy task, as it requires us to rewire our thinking and beliefs about ourselves. It means letting go of the need for constant approval and acceptance from others. It means standing strong in our own sense of self, regardless of what others may say or think. It means realizing that our value does not come from external sources, but from within ourselves. When we can learn to love and accept ourselves unconditionally, we free ourselves from the chains of seeking approval from others. We become empowered, confident, and self-assured. We no longer rely on others to feel good about ourselves, because we know our own worth. It is a journey that takes time and effort, but it is a journey worth taking. By breaking free from the need for others' approval, we can finally step into our own power and live authentically as our true selves. We can find true happiness and fulfillment, knowing that our worth comes from within, not from others.Similar Posts
