When we experience trauma, our bodies often become stuck in a state of fight, flight, or freeze. These survival responses can cause emotions to become trapped within our bodies. Somatic experiencing is a process that aims to release these trapped emotions by engaging with the body's sensations and movements. By tuning into the physical sensations that arise in response to traumatic memories, individuals can begin to slowly discharge the pent-up energy that has been stored in their bodies.
