Help children develop a sense of selfworth from "summary" of The Seven Spiritual Laws for Parents by Deepak Chopra

The foundation of a child's self-esteem is formed early in life, based on how they are treated and valued by their parents. When children feel seen, heard, and valued for who they are, they develop a sense of self-worth that carries them through life's challenges. This sense of self-worth is not based on external achievements or validations, but on an inner knowing that they are worthy of love and respect simply because they exist. As parents, it is our responsibility to help cultivate this sense of self-worth in our children by acknowledging their unique qualities, strengths, and gifts. By offering our unconditional love and acceptance, we provide them with a solid foundation upon which they can build their sense of self. When children feel secure in their worthiness, they are more likely to take risks, pursue their passions, and navigate life's ups and downs with resilience. One way to support our children in developing a sense of self-worth is to model self-love and self-care in our own lives. When children see us treating ourselves with kindness and respect, they learn that they too are deserving of the same. By practicing self-compassion and self-acceptance, we show our children that they don't need to be perfect to be worthy of love. It is also important to set realistic expectations for our children and celebrate their efforts and progress, rather than just their achievements. By focusing on the process rather than the outcome, we teach them that their worth is not tied to external measures of success. When children feel valued for who they are, rather than what they do, they are more likely to develop a strong sense of self-worth that will serve them well throughout their lives.
  1. Helping children develop a sense of self-worth is about recognizing and nurturing the inherent value and worthiness that lies within each child. By providing them with love, acceptance, and encouragement, we empower them to see themselves as worthy and deserving of all the good that life has to offer. Ultimately, when children believe in their own worth, they are better equipped to navigate life's challenges and seize the opportunities that come their way.
