When we seek validation from others, we are essentially handing over our power to them. We are saying, "I am not enough on my own. I need your approval to feel good about myself." This sets us up for disappointment because we are relying on someone else to determine our worth. We are putting our happiness in the hands of others, which is a risky proposition. When we stop seeking validation from others, we reclaim our power. We no longer need someone else to tell us that we are worthy or lovable. We know it in our hearts. We realize that the only opinion that truly matters is our own. We become the captain of our own ship, steering our lives in the direction that feels right to us. When we seek validation from others, we are seeking external approval to fill an internal void. We are looking for someone else to tell us that we are good enough, smart enough, or attractive enough. But the truth is, no amount of external validation can fill that void. It is something that we must do for ourselves.
