Ego creates suffering, let it go from "summary" of The Power of Now Journal by Eckhart Tolle

The ego is a false sense of self that we all carry within us. It is the voice in our head that tells us who we are, what we should do, and what others think of us. This voice is not who we truly are, but rather a collection of thoughts, beliefs, and past experiences that have been accumulated over time. When we allow the ego to take control of our lives, it creates suffering. It thrives on drama, conflict, and negativity, causing us to feel anxious, stressed, and unhappy. The ego constantly compares us to others, judges our worth based on external factors, and keeps us trapped in a cycle of fear and insecurity. To break free from this cycle of suffering, we must learn to let go of the ego. This means recognizing when the ego is speaking, and choosing not to identify with its thoughts and beliefs. Instead, we can cultivate a deeper awareness of our true self - the presence that exists beyond the ego. This presence is peaceful, content, and free from suffering. By letting go of the ego, we can experience a sense of liberation and inner peace. We no longer feel the need to prove ourselves to others, seek validation from external sources, or hold onto grudges and resentments. Instead, we can live in the present moment, fully engaged with life and open to whatever comes our way. Letting go of the ego is a practice that requires patience, self-awareness, and dedication. It is a journey of self-discovery and growth, as we learn to release the limiting beliefs and patterns that have kept us stuck in suffering. Through this process, we can find true happiness and fulfillment, as we connect with our authentic self and live in alignment with our deepest values and desires.
