Accept things as they are from "summary" of The Letting Go Guided Journal by David R. Hawkins
The concept of accepting things as they are may initially seem difficult to grasp, especially in a world where we are constantly encouraged to strive for more, achieve more, and change our circumstances. However, learning to accept things as they are does not mean giving up or settling for less than we deserve. It is about acknowledging reality and facing it head-on, without resistance or denial. When we resist reality, we create unnecessary suffering for ourselves. We expend valuable energy fighting against what already exists, instead of channeling that energy into more productive pursuits. By accepting things as they are, we can free ourselves from the burden of trying to control every aspect of our lives. Acceptance does not mean that we have to like or condone everything that happens to us. It simply means that we are willing to acknowledge the truth of our situation, without judgment or attachment. This attitude of acceptance allows us to let go of the need to constantly change or fix things, and instead focus on finding peace and contentment in the present moment. When we practice acceptance, we are better able to see things as they truly are, without the distortion of our own desires or fears. This clarity of vision enables us to make more informed decisions and take appropriate action, rather than reacting impulsively out of a place of resistance or denial. Acceptance also fosters a sense of inner peace and resilience. When we stop fighting against reality and start embracing it, we can weather life's ups and downs with grace and equanimity. This inner strength allows us to navigate challenges with a sense of calm and centeredness, rather than being tossed about by the whims of external circumstances.- Acceptance is a powerful tool for personal growth and transformation. It allows us to let go of the past, release our attachment to the future, and fully embrace the present moment. By accepting things as they are, we can cultivate a deeper sense of peace, joy, and fulfillment in our lives.
