Take time for selfcare from "summary" of The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin

When I started my happiness project, I quickly realized that one of the most important elements of happiness is taking time for self-care. It's so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of daily life that we forget to prioritize ourselves. We neglect our own needs in favor of work, family, and other obligations, but this can lead to burnout and unhappiness. Self-care isn't selfish; it's essential. It's about taking the time to nurture yourself, both physically and emotionally. This can take many forms, from taking a long bath to going for a run, from reading a book to spending time with loved ones. The key is to identify what makes you feel good and make time for it on a regular basis. For me, self-care means carving out time each day to do something that brings me joy. Whether it's taking a walk in nature, practicing yoga, or simply sitting quietly with a cup of tea, these moments of self-care help to recharge my batteries and bring me back to center. I know that when I neglect self-care, I feel more stressed, anxious, and irritable. But when I prioritize it, I feel more balanced, calm, and content. Self-care isn't always easy, especially when we're busy or feeling overwhelmed. But it's important to remember that taking care of ourselves is not a luxury; it's a necessity. When we make self-care a priority, we become better equipped to handle life's challenges and to show up as our best selves for those around us. So, whether it's scheduling regular "me time" in your calendar, setting boundaries with work and other commitments, or simply saying no when you need to, remember that self-care is non-negotiable. It's the foundation of happiness and well-being, and it's up to each of us to make it a priority in our lives.
