Satisfaction is elusive in the workplace from "summary" of The Dilbert Principle by Scott Adams

The workplace is a confusing place where dreams go to die. Workers often find themselves trapped in a cycle of never-ending projects, pointless meetings, and incompetent management. They chase after the elusive goal of satisfaction, but it always seems just out of reach. Employees are told that if they work hard and do a good job, they will be rewarded with raises, promotions, and recognition. But in reality, all they get are more work, more stress, and more disappointment. The harder they work, the more work they are given. It's a vicious cycle that never seems to end. Managers are no help either. They promise support and guidance but deliver only micromanagement and incompetence. They create unnecessary bureaucracy and obstacles that make it impossible for employees to do their jobs effectively. They are more concerned with appearing busy than actually getting anything done. The corporate world is a place where mediocrity thrives and excellence is punished. Employees who speak up are seen as troublemakers, while those who keep their heads down and do as they are told are rewarded with more work and more responsibilities. It's a lose-lose situation for everyone involved. In this chaotic environment, satisfaction is nothing more than a distant dream. It's a carrot on a stick that is always just out of reach. No matter how hard employees work or how much they sacrifice, they will never truly be satisfied with their job. The only way to find true satisfaction is to leave the workplace behind and pursue your passions outside of work.
