The feet can often reveal a person's true intentions from "summary" of The Definitive Book of Body Language by Barbara Pease,Allan Pease
In a social setting, where we may be trying to conceal our true feelings or intentions, our feet can often reveal more than we might wish. This is because the feet are the most honest part of the body, as they are the furthest away from the brain, where our conscious thoughts are processed. As a result, the feet are less likely to be under our conscious control, allowing them to give away our true feelings. When we are engaged in a conversation, for example, our feet may be pointing towards the person we are speaking to if we are interested and attentive. On the other hand, if we are feeling uncomfortable or disinterested, our feet may be angled away from the person, indicating our desire to leave the conversation. Similarly, if we are in a group setting and our feet are pointed towards the exit, it may suggest that we are ready to leave or that we are not fully engaged with the group. In addition to the direction of our feet, the movement of our feet can also reveal our true intentions. For instance, tapping our feet impatiently or shifting our weight from one foot to the other can indicate that we are feeling anxious or restless. On the other hand, if our feet are relaxed and still, it may suggest that we are calm and composed. Furthermore, the position of our feet can also provide insight into our emotional state. Crossing our legs, for example, can be a defensive gesture, indicating that we are feeling guarded or closed off. On the other hand, having our feet firmly planted on the ground can suggest that we are confident and grounded in our beliefs.- While we may be able to control our facial expressions and body language to some extent, our feet often reveal our true intentions without us even realizing it. By paying attention to the direction, movement, and position of our feet, we can gain valuable insights into our own emotions and those of others.
