Multiculturalism leads to social fragmentation from "summary" of The Death of the West by Patrick J. Buchanan

Multiculturalism, the doctrine that all cultures are equal and should coexist within the same nation, has been promoted as a means to celebrate diversity and foster harmony. However, history has shown that when different cultures are forced to coexist within the same society, social fragmentation inevitably follows. Instead of creating a harmonious blend of different cultures, multiculturalism leads to the establishment of separate, isolated communities that do not interact or integrate with one another. When individuals are encouraged to prioritize their cultural identity over their national identity, the bonds that hold a society together begin to weaken. People become more loyal to their own cultural group rather than to the nation as a whole, leading to division and conflict. Rather than promoting unity, multiculturalism fosters division and tribalism within society. Moreover, multiculturalism can create tensions between different cultural groups as they compete for resources, recognition, and influence. This competition can lead to resentment, mistrust, and even violence between different communities. Instead of fostering understanding and cooperation, multiculturalism can exacerbate existing social tensions and create new fault lines within society. In addition, multiculturalism can hinder the assimilation and integration of immigrants into the host society. When individuals are encouraged to maintain their cultural traditions and practices at the expense of adopting the values and norms of their new country, they remain isolated and segregated from the broader society. This lack of integration can lead to feelings of alienation and disconnection, further contributing to social fragmentation.
  1. The promotion of multiculturalism as a social policy has failed to achieve its intended goals of fostering diversity and inclusivity. Instead, it has led to increased division, conflict, and isolation within society. In order to maintain social cohesion and unity, it is essential to prioritize a common national identity and shared values over the promotion of multiculturalism.
