From the very beginning, I struggled to understand who I was. Growing up in a mixed-race family with a white mother who refused to talk about her past made me feel like an outsider in my own home. I was constantly searching for a sense of belonging, a place where I could feel accepted for who I truly was. As I grew older, I began to realize that acceptance had to come from within.
