Prophet Sulaiman's wisdom from "summary" of Stories of the Prophets by Ismāʻīl ibn ʻUmar Ibn Kathīr
Prophet Sulaiman, the son of Prophet Dawud, was bestowed with immense wisdom by Allah. This wisdom was not merely intellectual, but it also encompassed sound judgment and an acute understanding of the world. One of the most famous stories that highlight Prophet Sulaiman's wisdom is the tale of the two women who came to him with a child, each claiming to be the mother. Instead of hastily making a decision, Prophet Sulaiman proposed a solution that would reveal the true mother. He suggested cutting the child in half and giving each woman half. The true mother immediately relinquished her claim, preferring to see the child alive and well, even if it meant losing him. This display of wisdom and insight allowed Prophet Sulaiman to discern the genuine mother from the imposter. Moreover, Prophet Sulaiman's wisdom was not limited to interpersonal conflicts. He had a deep understanding of nature and could communicate with animals and even jinn. This ability allowed him to maintain a harmonious kingdom where all creatures lived in peace and cooperation. In addition to his wisdom, Prophet Sulaiman's humility and gratitude towards Allah were also evident. Despite his immense power and authority, he never allowed pride to cloud his judgment. He recognized that all his blessings came from Allah, and he constantly sought to show gratitude through his actions and words.- Prophet Sulaiman's wisdom was a multifaceted gift that encompassed not only intellectual acumen but also emotional intelligence, spiritual insight, and humility. His ability to navigate complex situations with clarity and wisdom serves as an enduring example for believers to emulate in their own lives.
