The Battle of Badr was a significant event in the early history of Islam. It took place in the month of Ramadan, in the second year of the Hijrah. The Muslims, led by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), were faced with a formidable enemy in the form of the Quraysh of Makkah. The Quraysh were determined to crush the new Muslim community in Madinah before it could gain strength and pose a threat to their power. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) received intelligence that a large caravan belonging to the Quraysh was on its way back from Syria, laden with goods and wealth. This presented an opportunity for the Muslims to intercept the caravan and seize its riches. The Prophet consulted his companions and together they decided to intercept the caravan at a place called Badr. The Quraysh, upon learning of the Muslim plan, sent a force of around a thousand men to protect the caravan. The Muslims, numbering around three hundred, were vastly outnumbered.
