He decided to confront them head-on and issue a bold challenge that would force them to reconsider their beliefs. Prophet Ilyas proposed a test to the idol worshippers that would clearly demonstrate the futility of their worship. He asked them to gather all their idols together and place them in a central location. Once the idols were all assembled, Prophet Ilyas issued a simple command: "Call upon your gods to bring harm upon me, if they truly possess any power."
