Prophet Lot and the People of Sodom from "summary" of Stories of the Prophets (Peace be upon them) by Imam Imaduddin Isma’il Ibn Kathir

Prophet Lot was the nephew of Prophet Ibrahim, and he was sent to the people of Sodom to guide them to the right path. The people of Sodom were known for their wickedness and immoral behavior. They engaged in acts of homosexuality, theft, and oppression. Despite Prophet Lot's efforts to advise them and warn them of the consequences of their actions, they continued to indulge in their sinful ways. Prophet Lot's message was met with ridicule and mockery by the people of Sodom. They rejected his teachings and refused to listen to his warnings. Instead, they continued to commit acts of immorality and wickedness without any fear of accountability. As a result of their disobedience and defiance, the people of Sodom were doomed to face the wrath of Allah. Prophet Lot pleaded with them to change their ways and seek forgiveness, but they remained stubborn and refused to repent. In the end, Allah sent down a punishment upon the people of Sodom in the form of a severe earthquake. The entire city was destroyed, and its inhabitants were wiped out. Only Prophet Lot and his family were spared, as they were the only ones who believed in the message of Allah and followed the guidance of the Prophet. The story of Prophet Lot and the people of Sodom serves as a reminder of the consequences of engaging in sinful behavior and disobeying the commandments of Allah. It highlights the importance of following the teachings of the Prophets and seeking forgiveness for our sins. It also emphasizes the need to be mindful of our actions and to strive to lead a life that is pleasing to Allah.
