Destruction of Thamud from "summary" of Stories of the Prophets by Ismāʻīl ibn ʻUmar Ibn Kathīr
The people of Thamud were a prosperous nation living in a fertile land. They were blessed with wealth and power but instead of being grateful to Allah, they became arrogant and rebellious. Despite the warnings of their prophet Saleh, they continued on their path of wrongdoing. Saleh tried to guide his people towards righteousness and warned them of the consequences of their actions. He reminded them of the favors Allah had granted them and urged them to worship Him alone. However, the people of Thamud rejected Saleh's message and demanded a miracle to prove his prophethood. In response to their request, Saleh asked for a she-camel to appear miraculously from a rock. Allah granted his request, and the she-camel emerged as a sign of Allah's power and mercy. However, the people of Thamud were not impressed by this miracle and they continued to defy Saleh's teachings. In their arrogance, the people of Thamud plotted to kill the she-camel and rejected the message of Allah. This act of defiance angered Allah, and He decreed their destruction. A severe earthquake struck the land, destroying the people of Thamud and leaving them in ruins. The destruction of Thamud serves as a reminder of the consequences of arrogance and disobedience to Allah. It shows that no nation is above the laws of Allah and those who reject His guidance will face His punishment. May this story serve as a lesson for all those who turn away from the path of righteousness.Similar Posts
