Birth of Prophet Isma'il from "summary" of Stories of the Prophets by Ismāʻīl ibn ʻUmar Ibn Kathīr

The birth of Prophet Isma'il was a momentous occasion, foretold by Allah to his father Prophet Ibrahim. The elderly couple, Ibrahim and his wife Sarah, had longed for a child for many years, but Sarah had been unable to conceive. However, Allah promised them a child who would be a prophet and a leader of his people. One day, three angels in the form of men came to visit Ibrahim and Sarah. They gave the glad tidings that Sarah would soon give birth to a son, who would be named Isma'il. Sarah was incredulous, as she was old and past the age of bearing children. But the angels reassured her that nothing was impossible for Allah, and that His promise would surely come to pass. True to the angels' words, Sarah soon became pregnant and gave birth to a son, whom they named Isma'il. Ibrahim was overjoyed at the arrival of his long-awaited son, who was to be a great prophet and leader. Isma'il grew up to be a righteous and pious young man, following in the footsteps of his father Ibrahim. The birth of Isma'il was a miraculous event, a testament to the power and mercy of Allah. It was a fulfillment of His promise to Ibrahim, and a sign of His favor upon the righteous. Isma'il's birth marked the beginning of a new chapter in the history of prophethood, as he would go on to play a significant role in the spread of Islam and the guidance of his people.
