Creation of Adam from "summary" of Stories of the Prophets by Ismāʻīl ibn ʻUmar Ibn Kathīr

When Allah decided to create Adam, He gathered the angels and informed them of His plan. Allah said to them, "I am going to place a vicegerent on earth." The angels questioned Allah's decision, asking why He would create a being that would cause mischief and shed blood. Allah, in His infinite wisdom, replied that He knew what they did not know. Allah created Adam with His own hands and breathed His spirit into him, making him superior to the angels. Allah then commanded the angels to prostrate before Adam as a sign of respect and honor. All the angels obeyed except for Iblis, who was known for his arrogance and pride. Iblis refused to prostrate before Adam, claiming that he was superior to him because he was created from fire while Adam was created from clay. As a result of his disobedience and arrogance, Iblis was expelled from Paradise and became Satan, the eternal enemy of mankind.
