Work through emotions from "summary" of Rising Strong by Brené Brown
When we experience difficult emotions, our first instinct may be to suppress or ignore them. We may try to numb ourselves with distractions or turn to unhealthy coping mechanisms. However, avoiding our emotions only prolongs our suffering and prevents us from truly healing. Instead, we must learn to face our emotions head-on and allow ourselves to fully experience them. Working through emotions involves acknowledging and accepting our feelings without judgment. It requires us to sit with our discomfort and explore the root cause of our emotions. By digging deep and uncovering the underlying issues, we can gain valuable insights into ourselves and our triggers. This process of self-reflection allows us to develop a greater sense of self-awareness and emotional intelligence. When we work through our emotions, we are not seeking to dwell on negativity or wallow in self-pity. Rather, we are striving to process our feelings in a healthy and constructive manner. This involves expressing our emotions in a safe and supportive environment, whether through journaling, therapy, or conversations with trusted individuals. By sharing our feelings with others, we can gain perspective and receive validation for our experiences. Furthermore, working through emotions enables us to release pent-up energy and tension that may be holding us back. As we face our emotions and address them directly, we can begin to let go of past hurts and move forward with a renewed sense of clarity and purpose. This process of emotional release allows us to free ourselves from the burden of unresolved feelings and pave the way for personal growth and transformation.- Working through emotions is an essential part of the healing process. By confronting our emotions and processing them in a healthy way, we can cultivate resilience and strengthen our emotional well-being. It is only by facing our emotions courageously and authentically that we can truly rise strong from life's challenges and setbacks.
