Avoiding the truth doesn't make it disappear. It doesn't erase the pain or make it any less real. It simply buries it deep within you, where it festers and grows. Denial may provide temporary relief, a temporary escape from facing the harsh reality of a situation, but in the end, it only serves to prolong the inevitable suffering that must be dealt with. Pain demands to be felt. It demands acknowledgment and acceptance. It demands to be processed and worked through, not ignored or pushed aside.
