Alienation from society from "summary" of No Longer Human by Osamu Dazai
The feeling of not belonging, of being disconnected from those around you, is a heavy burden to bear. It weighs down on you, suffocating any sense of joy or purpose in life. You look around and see people laughing, chatting, living their lives with ease, while you stand on the sidelines, a mere observer of the world passing you by. No matter how hard you try to fit in, to be a part of the group, there is always a nagging sense of difference, of otherness that sets you apart. You try to wear the right clothes, say the right things, but deep down, you know that you are just pretending, putting on a mask to hide your true self from the harsh judgment of society. The more you try to conform, the more you realize how impossible it is to truly be accepted. People may smile and nod, but they will never truly understand the turmoil that rages within you. They will never know the fear that grips your heart whenever you try to open up and reveal the darkness that lurks beneath the facade of normalcy. So you retreat into yourself, building walls around your heart to protect it from the pain of rejection. You become a ghost, a shadow of your former self, drifting through life without purpose or direction. You watch as others forge connections, build relationships, while you remain an outsider, a stranger in a world that no longer feels like home. And so you wander, lost and alone, searching for a place where you can finally belong, where you can be seen and accepted for who you truly are. But deep down, you know that such a place may never exist, that the feeling of alienation from society may be a burden you will carry for the rest of your days.Similar Posts
