Jordan builds bridges with classmates from "summary" of New Kid by Jerry Craft

Throughout the story, Jordan can be seen making an effort to connect with his classmates in various ways. Despite feeling like an outsider at the beginning of the school year, he doesn't give up on building relationships with his peers. For instance, he tries to join in on conversations about popular culture, even if he's not very familiar with the topics being discussed. This shows his willingness to step out of his comfort zone in order to bond with his classmates. Additionally, Jordan takes the initiative to participate in group activities and projects. He collaborates with others during art class, basketball games, and even when working on assignments. By working together with his peers, Jordan is able to show them that he is a team player and someone they can rely on. This helps to break down barriers and build trust among his classmates. Furthermore, Jordan shows kindness and empathy towards his fellow students. When he notices that someone is feeling left out or struggling with something, he offers a listening ear and a helping hand. By showing that he cares about the well-being of others, Jordan is able to form meaningful connections with his classmates based on mutual respect and understanding.
  1. Jordan's efforts to build bridges with his classmates demonstrate his desire to be accepted and respected within his new school environment. Through his actions and interactions with others, he is able to show that he is a friendly and approachable individual who is willing to make an effort to connect with those around him.
