Eddie's basketball skills open doors for him that he never imagined from "summary" of Million Dollar Shot, The (new cover) by Dan Gutman

Eddie Ball was bouncing a basketball outside his house when he heard the voice of his neighbor, Mrs. Fitz. She was calling him over, and Eddie couldn't help but wonder what she wanted. Mrs. Fitz explained that she had entered him into a free-throw shooting contest, and Eddie couldn't believe it. He had always been good at basketball, but he never imagined that his skills could open doors like this. As Eddie continued to practice for the contest, he started to realize the potential that his basketball skills held. He had always loved the game, but now it seemed like there was more to it than just playing for fun. The thought of winning the contest and the million-dollar prize that came with it was enough to drive Eddie to work even harder. When the day of the contest finally arrived, Eddie was nervous but determined. He stepped up to the free-throw line, focused on the basket in front of him, and took his shot. The ball sailed through the air and swished through the net, earning him a spot in the final round. Eddie couldn't believe it - his basketball skills had taken him farther than he had ever imagined.
  1. Eddie found himself facing off against some tough competition. But he didn't let that discourage him. He knew that his skills were what had gotten him this far, and he was determined to see it through to the end. And in the end, it was his basketball skills that ultimately opened doors for him - doors that led to a future he had never even dreamed of.
