Surrender to the flow of life from "summary" of Longing and Letting Go by Holly Hillgardner

When we talk about surrendering to the flow of life, we are essentially discussing the idea of letting go of our need to control every aspect of our existence. This concept can be quite challenging for many of us, as we are often taught to strive for control, stability, and certainty in our lives. However, the reality is that life is inherently unpredictable and constantly changing. By surrendering to the flow of life, we are choosing to accept and embrace this uncertainty, rather than resisting it. We are acknowledging that we cannot control everything that happens to us, and that trying to do so only leads to frustration, stress, and disappointment. Instead, we are learning to trust in the natural ebb and flow of life, and to have faith that everything will unfold as it is meant to. Surrendering to the flow of life does not mean that we are resigning ourselves to a passive existence. On the contrary, it requires a great deal of courage, strength, and resilience. It means being willing to let go of our preconceived notions of how things should be, and to be open to the possibilities that present themselves to us. It means being willing to take risks, make mistakes, and learn from our experiences. When we surrender to the flow of life, we are choosing to live in the present moment, rather than constantly worrying about the future or dwelling on the past. We are learning to be more flexible, adaptable, and responsive to the challenges and opportunities that come our way. We are allowing ourselves to be guided by our intuition, rather than being driven by our fears or insecurities.
  1. Surrendering to the flow of life is about finding peace, balance, and harmony in the midst of chaos and uncertainty. It is about learning to let go of our attachments, expectations, and judgments, and to simply be with what is. It is a profound act of self-love and self-acceptance, as we learn to trust in ourselves and in the universe to support us on our journey.
