Intimacy is a choice, not a given from "summary" of Intimacy by Osho
Intimacy is not something that just happens to us. It is not a given, a predestined phenomenon that we have no control over. On the contrary, intimacy is a choice that we make, a conscious decision that we must actively pursue and nurture in our relationships. Many people mistakenly believe that intimacy is something that should naturally occur between two people who are in a close relationship. They think that if they just spend enough time together, share their lives with each other, and truly care for one another, intimacy will naturally blossom and flourish. However, this is far from the truth. Intimacy requires effort, dedication, and commitment. It is not something that can be taken for granted or assumed to exist simply because two people are in a relationship. Intimacy is a delicate flower that must be carefully tended to and nurtured if it is to survive and thrive. In order to cultivate intimacy in our relationships, we must be willing to be vulnerable, open, and honest with one another. We must be willing to let down our walls, to expose our true selves, and to share our deepest fears, desires, and dreams with our partners. Unfortunately, many people are afraid of intimacy. They fear the vulnerability and the potential for hurt that comes with truly opening up to another person. They prefer to keep their walls up, to maintain a safe distance, and to avoid the risk of getting hurt. But true intimacy cannot exist without vulnerability. It requires us to let down our guard, to trust in the other person, and to be willing to risk getting hurt in order to experience the deep connection and closeness that intimacy brings. Intimacy is a choice that we must consciously make in our relationships. It requires effort, dedication, and a willingness to be vulnerable and open with one another. But the rewards of intimacy are immeasurable – a deep sense of connection, closeness, and love that can only be experienced when we choose to let down our walls and truly connect with another person.Similar Posts
