The Prime Minister is the head of the government in India and is appointed by the President, who is the head of the state. The Prime Minister is usually the leader of the political party that has the majority in the Lok Sabha. The Council of Ministers, headed by the Prime Minister, is responsible for implementing government policies and decisions. The President of India, who is elected by an electoral college comprising of elected members of both houses of Parliament and the State Legislative Assemblies, acts as the ceremonial head of the state. The President's role is largely symbolic, and most of the executive powers are vested in the Council of Ministers led by the Prime Minister. The Indian government operates on the principles of accountability, transparency, and the rule of law. The Parliament, with its two houses, acts as the watchdog of the government and ensures that it functions in the best interest of the people. The system of parliamentary democracy in India is designed to promote good governance, uphold democratic values, and protect the rights and liberties of its citizens.
