In order to be a true ally, one must be willing to approach the work of justice with a posture of humility. This means acknowledging that there is much to learn and unlearn, especially when it comes to understanding and dismantling systems of oppression. Cultural humility requires a willingness to listen to those who have been marginalized and oppressed, to truly hear their experiences and perspectives without defensiveness or dismissal. Allyship that lacks cultural humility often falls short, as it can be tainted by the desire to be seen as "good" or "woke" rather than a genuine commitment to justice and equity.
