When dealing with people, remember you are not dealing with creatures of logic, but creatures of emotion. If you want to make a good impression, smile. A smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks. Your smile brightens the lives of all who see it. To someone who has seen a dozen people frown, scowl or turn their faces away, your smile is like the sun breaking through the clouds. People rarely succeed unless they have fun in what they are doing. Develop a genuine interest in others. To be interesting, be interested. Encourage others to talk about themselves. The royal road to a person's heart is to talk about the things he or she treasures most. Ask people about themselves, and they will listen for hours. Be a good listener. Encourage others to talk about themselves. People become more interested in you when you show interest in them. Remember that people are far more interested in themselves than they are in you. A person's toothache means more to that person than a famine in China which kills a million people. People are hungry for praise, and thirst for appreciation.
