Vulnerability is a sign of courage, not weakness from "summary" of How Not To Be a Boy by Robert Webb

What I’ve come to understand is that showing vulnerability takes guts. It’s not easy to let your guard down, to reveal your insecurities and fears to others. It’s much simpler to put on a brave face, to pretend that everything is okay even when it’s not. But true courage lies in being able to be open and honest about your feelings, to show your vulnerabilities without fear of judgment or ridicule. I used to think that being vulnerable was a sign of weakness. I believed that I had to be tough and stoic, that I couldn’t let anyone see the cracks in my armor. But over time, I’ve realized that this mindset only held me back. It prevented me from forming deep and meaningful connections with others, from truly being myself. It wasn’t until I started to embrace my vulnerabilities, to see them as a strength rather than a weakness, that I was able to grow and change as a person. When you allow yourself to be vulnerable, you open yourself up to all sorts of emotions. You may feel scared, anxious, or even embarrassed. But you also give yourself the opportunity to experience joy, connection, and love in a way that you never could if you kept your walls up. It’s through vulnerability that we are able to truly connect with others, to share our stories and experiences in a way that is authentic and real. So the next time you feel afraid to show your vulnerabilities, remember that it’s not a sign of weakness. It’s a sign of courage, of strength, of resilience. It takes guts to be vulnerable, to let down your guard and show the world who you really are. But in doing so, you open yourself up to a world of possibilities, of growth, and of connection that you never thought possible. So be brave, be open, and be vulnerable. It’s the only way to truly live.
