Allow your child to experience failure to learn valuable lessons from "summary" of Have a New Kid by Friday by Dr. Kevin Leman

When it comes to raising a child, it can be tempting to shield them from failure at all costs. We want to protect our kids from the pain of disappointment and the sting of defeat. However, by constantly swooping in to rescue them from every difficult situation, we are actually doing them a disservice. We are robbing them of the opportunity to learn valuable lessons that can only come from experiencing failure. Failure is a natural part of life, and it is through failure that we learn and grow. As parents, our job is not to prevent our children from failing, but to help them navigate failure in a healthy and constructive way. When we shield our kids from failure, we are sending them the message that they are not capable of handling challenges on their own. We are undermining their confidence and stunting their emotional growth. By allowing our children to experience failure, we are teaching them important life skills such as resilience, perseverance, and problem-solving. When a child fails at something, it is an opportunity for them to reflect on what went wrong and how they can do better next time. It teaches them the importance of hard work and determination, and helps them develop the resilience they need to bounce back from setbacks. As parents, it can be difficult to watch our children struggle and fail. We want to protect them from pain and disappointment, but in doing so, we are hindering their growth and development. By allowing our children to experience failure, we are giving them the gift of valuable life lessons that will serve them well in the future. So instead of rushing to their rescue at the first sign of trouble, let them experience failure, and be there to support and guide them as they learn and grow from their mistakes.
