Pip's moral compass is tested from "summary" of Great Expectations by Charles Dickens - Delphi Classics (Illustrated) by Charles Dickens

Throughout the story, Pip's moral compass is constantly challenged by the circumstances and people he encounters. His journey from the marshes of Kent to the bustling streets of London is a test of his values and principles. The influence of characters such as Estella, Miss Havisham, and Magwitch forces Pip to question his beliefs and decisions. Estella, with her cold and unfeeling demeanor, manipulates Pip's emotions and causes him to question his self-worth. Despite her mistreatment, Pip remains infatuated with her, leading him to prioritize her approval over his own well-being. Miss Havisham, with her vengeful and bitter attitude, exposes Pip to the destructive power of resentment and anger. Pip struggles to reconcile his feelings of compassion for her with the realization of her harmful intentions. Magwitch, the convict who becomes Pip's unlikely benefactor, challenges Pip's preconceived notions of class and morality. Through Magwitch's loyalty and kindness, Pip learns to look beyond superficial distinctions and recognize the humanity in all individuals. The revelation of Magwitch's true identity forces Pip to confront the consequences of his actions and the impact of his choices on others.
