Huck wrestles with societal norms from "summary" of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain

Throughout my journey down the Mississippi River, I found myself constantly at odds with the societal norms that governed the world around me. From the very beginning, I was faced with the choice between following the rules of society or following my own moral compass. When I decided to help Jim, a runaway slave, escape to freedom, I knew that I was going against everything that I had been taught was right and proper. As I grappled with the consequences of my actions, I began to question the values that society held dear. I saw how easily people could be swayed by the opinions of others, how quickly they could turn against those who dared to challenge the status quo. I saw the hypocrisy of a world that claimed to value freedom and justice, yet denied those very rights to people like Jim simply because of the color of their skin.
