Technology accelerators are not the answer to greatness from "summary" of Good to Great by Jim Collins
Greatness does not come from technology accelerators, despite what some may believe. In fact, our research found that technology alone is not the key to achieving greatness. Instead, we discovered that the truly great companies focused first and foremost on getting the right people on the bus and in the right seats. This emphasis on people over technology may seem counterintuitive in today's tech-driven world, but it is essential for sustained success. While technology can certainly play a role in a company's success, it is not a panacea. In fact, many of the companies we studied that went from good to great did not rely on technology accelerators to achieve their transformation. Instead, they focused on building a strong team of dedicated individuals who were committed to achieving a common goal. These companies understood that technology is a tool, not a solution, and that success ultimately depends on the people using that tool. Furthermore, we found that companies that prioritized technology accelerators over people often failed to achieve greatness. This is because technology is constantly evolving, and what may be cutting-edge today could be obsolete tomorrow. On the other hand, people have the ability to adapt and grow, making them a more reliable source of competitive advantage. By investing in the right people and fostering a culture of excellence, companies can position themselves for long-term success.- While technology accelerators can certainly be beneficial, they are not the answer to achieving greatness. Instead, companies should focus on building a strong team of dedicated individuals who are committed to achieving a common goal. By prioritizing people over technology, companies can create a sustainable competitive advantage that will stand the test of time.
