Good to Great: Why Some Companies Make the Leap... and Others Don't is a business book written by Jim Collins. It examines why some companies make the transition from being simply good companies to becoming great ones, and those that don't. The book is based on a five-year research project by a team of 21 researchers who analyzed articles, books, interviews, and financial data from more than 1,400 publicly-traded companies, of which 11 were identified as having exhibited a qualitative leap from good to great. The book discusses the “Level 5 Leader,” as well as the importance of building a culture that may be resistant to change. Collins also addresses the role of humility and fortitude while emphasizing the need for Companies to recognize the importance of maintaining core values and sticking with them for the long run.
