Eliminate approval bottlenecks from "summary" of Brave New Work by Aaron Dignan
In the old world of work, decisions were made by a select few individuals who held the power of approval. These approval bottlenecks slowed down progress, stifled innovation, and created frustration among employees. People were forced to jump through hoops and navigate a complex web of sign-offs in order to move forward with their ideas. To truly embrace a new way of working, we must eliminate these approval bottlenecks and empower people at all levels of the organization to make decisions. By distributing decision-making authority more evenly, we can increase agility, responsiveness, and creativity. When individuals have the autonomy to act on their ideas without waiting for approval, they are more likely to take risks, experiment, and innovate. This shift requires a fundamental change in mindset. Leaders must trust their employees to make the right decisions and create a culture that values autonomy and initiative. Instead of seeking permission, employees should be encouraged to take ownership of their work and act in the best interest of the organization. By removing approval bottlenecks, we can foster a more dynamic and adaptive workplace where ideas can flow freely and innovation can thrive. When employees are empowered to make decisions, they are more engaged, motivated, and invested in the success of the organization. This not only leads to better outcomes but also creates a more fulfilling and rewarding work experience for everyone involved.Similar Posts
