Judgments and expectations are like the weather of the mind, constantly changing and unpredictable. When we cling to these judgments and expectations, we create unnecessary suffering for ourselves. We become attached to our ideas about how things should be, rather than accepting them as they are. This attachment causes us to resist reality, leading to frustration and disappointment. Letting go of judgments and expectations does not mean abandoning discernment or discerning what is skillful and unskillful. It means seeing things as they are without overlaying them with our stories and interpretations. By releasing our attachment to how we think things should be, we open ourselves up to the possibility of experiencing life more fully and authentically.
