Acceptance is the key to living in the present moment from "summary" of Atmamun by Kapil Gupta, M.d.

The essence of living in the present moment lies in acceptance. It is not a passive surrender to circumstances, but a conscious choice to embrace reality as it is, without resistance or judgment. When we accept the present moment without trying to change it or escape from it, we free ourselves from the mental patterns that keep us trapped in the past or anxious about the future. Acceptance is not about condoning or approving of everything that happens; it is simply a recognition that the present moment is the only reality we have. By accepting what is, we can respond to situations with clarity and wisdom, rather than reacting impulsively out of fear or frustration. This allows us to make empowered choices and take decisive action, rather than getting lost in a cycle of doubt and hesitation. When we resist the present moment, we create suffering for ourselves. We may wish things were different, but the reality is that they are as they are. By accepting this truth, we can release the mental and emotional burdens that come from fighting against what is. This does not mean that we become passive or indifferent; on the contrary, acceptance can give us the strength and resilience to face challenges with grace and courage. Living in the present moment requires us to let go of attachment to outcomes and expectations. When we can accept whatever arises with an open heart and mind, we can experience life more fully and deeply. We can savor the beauty of each moment, without being distracted by regrets from the past or worries about the future. In the end, acceptance is a practice that requires patience, humility, and self-awareness. It is not always easy, but the rewards are immense. When we can accept the present moment with all its imperfections and uncertainties, we can find peace and contentment in the midst of chaos and change. This is the key to living fully and authentically, here and now.
