Reason is the faculty that identifies and integrates the material provided by man's senses. It is the only means of integrating sensory data and of understanding reality. Reason is the only means by which man can achieve knowledge, and it is the basic means of survival. Without reason, man would not be able to discover the principles necessary for his survival and progress. Reason is the tool of the mind that enables man to understand the world around him, to grasp the facts of reality, and to use logic as the means of understanding and making decisions. Reason is the faculty that allows man to think, to conceptualize, to form abstractions, and to apply logic in his thinking. It is the ability to understand, to analyze, to evaluate, and to make judgments based on facts and evidence.
