Propaganda tactics from "summary" of Animal Farm and 1984 by George Orwell
Propaganda tactics are a powerful tool used by those in power to manipulate and control the thoughts and beliefs of the masses. In both Animal Farm and 1984, George Orwell illustrates how propaganda is used to maintain authority and suppress dissent. In Animal Farm, the pigs use propaganda tactics to justify their rise to power and oppress the other animals on the farm. Through slogans like "All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others" and the rewriting of the Seven Commandments, the pigs manipulate the truth to serve their own interests. By controlling the narrative and spreading false information, they maintain their control over the other animals. Similarly, in 1984, the Party uses propaganda tactics to maintain its totalitarian regime. The Party's slogan, "War is peace, freedom is slavery, ignorance is strength," demonstrates their ability to twist reality and manipulate language to control the thoughts of the citizens. Through the use of propaganda posters, telescreens, and the rewriting of history, the Party creates a false narrative that justifies their oppressive rule.- Propaganda tactics are a key tool used by those in power to maintain control and suppress dissent.
