Aeneas flees burning Troy from "summary" of Aeneid by Virgil,Frederick Ahl
As flames consume the once-great city of Troy, Aeneas, son of Anchises and Venus, is driven by duty and destiny to flee. The Greeks, led by cunning Odysseus, have breached the walls of the city, leaving destruction and death in their wake. Aeneas, bearing his elderly father on his back and leading his young son by the hand, navigates the chaos of the burning streets. The gods themselves seem to be against him, as Juno, ever hostile to the Trojans, stirs up the winds and stymies his efforts to escape. Despite these obstacles, Aeneas remains resolute in his determination to save his family and his people. His mind is tormented by the thought of leaving behind his beloved wife, Creusa, who becomes separated from him in the chaos of the city. As Aeneas searches frantically for his lost wife, he is visited by her shade, who urges him to continue on his journey and fulfill his destiny. Though grief-stricken, Aeneas knows that he must obey the will of the gods and carry on. With heavy heart, he turns away from the spectral form of his wife and presses forward, guided by the divine hand of his mother, Venus. Through the flames and the smoke, Aeneas leads his small band of survivors to the safety of their ships, determined to seek a new home and found a new Troy. The burning ruins of his beloved city fade into the distance as he sets sail for the unknown shores of Italy, where his descendants will one day build the mighty city of Rome. And so, Aeneas, the noble hero, flees from the ashes of Troy, carrying with him the hopes and dreams of his people.Similar Posts
